    Careers & Progression

This section of the website focusses on outlining our careers programme. We are passionate about supporting students through the process of deciding upon the direction they take after finishing school.

We provide impartial guidance and advice on further education, training or employment across KS1-KS5.  We have an independent careers advisor who offers individual sessions with students to compile an action around their future interests and options available.  We also involve many outside agencies, such as employers and education providers.

Preparing your people for a fulfilling and rewarding life after finishing a full-time education is at the heart of everything we do.  Whilst our students are at Stubbin Wood School, we provide them with a range of activities and opportunities including:

    • Finding out about technical education qualifications and apprenticeship opportunities through our careers programme.  The programme provides information on the full range of educational and training options available at each transition point.
    • Hearing from a range of local providers about the opportunities they offer, including technical education and apprenticeships – through option events, assemblies and group discussions and taster events.
    • Understanding how to make applications for the full range of academic and technical courses.

Our Careers Team is on hand to help you to help your children make informed choices to help them to take a confident step forward when they leave our school.

    Management of Provider Access Requests

To ensure our students receive impartial career advice and guidance to help to inform their decisions, we welcome education providers into the school and will seek to provide an appropriate, timely opportunity for them to meet with our students. Their 'offer' should be appropriate to the needs of our students.

Premises and facilities: Providers who support the Careers Education Curriculum on school premises will have the use of the dining area, classrooms and meeting rooms, where possible, including the use of IT equipment. Use of facilities will be discussed and agreed in advance of the visit with the Careers Leader. Providers are welcome to leave marketing materials and other information sources at the school, where it will be made available to students and parents.

A provider wishing to request access should contact Carie-Ann Wiltshire, by phone, 01623 742795, or by e-mail.
