    Phonics

Little Wandle is a DfE approved resource we use in school to support the systematic teaching of phonics. We have a very structured plan in school to progress children through a range of Phases, this ensures children become competent readers and writers.

If you require any additional support or advice, please come into school and speak with your child's class teacher or our Phonics Leader, Mrs Slater.

Useful resources for parents are available from the Little Wandle website: Click Here to access them.

In June each year, Year 1 children will take a Phonics test. The children are tested individually by being asked to read 'real' words and 'pseudo' words from a booklet. The children will know how to spot a 'pseudo' word because they have monsters next to them. Throughout their phonics learning, the children will have practised reading real words and 'pseudo' words.
