We were again awarded the prestigious Inclusion Quality Kitemark (IQM), Centre of Excellence Status in 2024.
Whaley Thorns Community Primary School provides a fully inclusive main stream primary provision. We strive to ensure that all pupils achieve their potential academically, personally, socially and emotionally in all areas of the curriculum, regardless of their gender, ethnicity, social background, religion, sexual identity, physical ability or educational needs.
In the documents listed below you will find the ways in which our schools ensure they support all of our pupils, including those with SEND, in order that they can realise their full potential. We are continually developing new skills, resources and techniques to ensure our provision meets the changing requirements of our pupils.
As a school, we put measures in place to provide inclusive provision for our students, with a view to prevent the occurrence of each and every one of our pupils being treated less than any other pupil in school. The school’s Accessibility Plan includes information about the steps we take to prevent disabled pupils being treated less favourably than others and the facilities we provide to help all of our disabled pupils access the school’s physical environment, the curriculum and the delivery of information in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.
In March 2024, the school was again awarded the Inclusion Quality Mark Centre of Excellence (IQM) to evidence how we as a school strive to meet the needs of our disabled pupils. At Whaley, we believe in working together to be the best that we can possibly be. We will ensure this by:
