There are many sources of advice and guidance to support your choices. We will help you in school, and we also encourage you to do some independent research.
- The DEBP offers people online career support through its DIRECTIONS online career programme. This is highly recommended as a great source of local information. www.debp.org
- The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) provides a range of support to help young people and adults move forward into work or stay in work. You can click on the following link to check your eligibility and entitlements: https://www.gov.uk/access-to-work. You might like to watch the video (below) which has lots of user-friendly information about how to apply for Access to Work funding and support.
- Making the transition from school to higher education or an apprenticeship/work can be challenging. The Disabled Student Helpline provides information and advice to disabled students and apprentices, parents and/or carers and professionals working with disabled students and apprentices on a range of issues. Disabled Students Helpline is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 11 am and 1pm.
- MENCAP provides information and guidance on a wide range of topics that are important to you, and it is certainly helpful to look at their website.
